Motorcyclist dies after crash in Sutton-in-Ashfield
The 31-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene
Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a man in his 30s was killed when he came off his motorbike in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Police say it was a single vehicle collision that they were called to last night (19th August) at around 11.20pm.
The 31-year-old, riding the motorbike, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alfreton Road in Sutton-in-Ashfield was closed overnight whilst police investigations took place, but this has since re-opened.
Officers want to speak to anyone who may have seen the motorcycle, as it was travelling towards the A38, just before the collision.
Detective Inspector Jamie Moore, of Derbyshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:
“The thoughts of the investigation team are with the family of the motorcyclist following this tragic incident.
“Specially trained officers will be deployed to support them while our investigations continue.
“The collision occurred on a busy road close to the A38 and we believe there were a number of other vehicles and pedestrians in the area who may have witnessed something which could assist us.
“Likewise, there may be motorists with recorded footage which could help us understand exactly what happened.”
