Midlands to benefit from over £900 million of US funding

Businesses across the Midlands will benefit from £900 million of US investment that the President has announced as part of his State Visit.

The investment is for the automotive engineering and advanced manufacturing industry.

Part of the funding will go to expanding the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal, the UK’s largest inland freight hub.

Boeing will modify two US Air Force E-7A Wedgetail aircraft in the UK, creating more than 150 jobs in Birmingham.

Amentum is investing £150 million in the UK to create over 3,000 new jobs. The company has highlighted that this will include roles in the Midlands.

The investments form part of a wider investment between the UK and US totalling more than £150 billion. The largest amount announced in connection with a State Visit.

Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle said:

“This record-breaking investment sends a clear signal that the Midlands’ engineering and manufacturing expertise continues to attract international attention.

“Working closely with the US is best for Britain — it boosts growth and delivers jobs across the country.

“These investments reflect the growing confidence in the region’s role in the UK’s industrial future—and shows our Plan for Change is working.”
