Police arrest a man and woman over a stabbing in Leicester
A man in his 30s is being treated in hospital for serious injuries
A man and woman have been arrested following a report of a stabbing in Welford Road – and officers are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
Police were called to an address near the junction with Pelham Street at 8.15am today (Thursday 11 September) following a report a man had been stabbed.
Officers attended with colleagues from the East Midlands Ambulance Service and found a man in his 30s, who was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
Following initial enquiries in the area, a 29-year-old man and 35-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. They both remain in custody at this time.
Detective Sergeant Lisa Ariss, from our Complex Investigation Team (CIT), said:
“Our enquiries to establish the circumstances of this incident are in their early stages and I’d like to speak to anyone who can help. Officers currently remain in the area as the investigation continues.
“The incident happened at an address on a busy route in the city and I’d encourage anyone who saw what happened or captured anything on a dashcam or mobile phone to get in touch."
