Police have now arrested nine people in connection to a machete incident in Nottingham last night (28th Jan).

Officers say there was a fight between a group of people on Glasshouse Street at around 7:35pm.

A 15-year-old boy was injured but Nottinghamshire Police say it is not thought to be life-altering or life-threatening.

The suspects are four boys, aged 15, one man, aged 20, one boy aged 16, and three girls aged 14, 16 and 17. They remain in police custody.

Police say they have been arrested for offences including affray and robbery.

Chief Superintendent Nick Waldram said:

"This behaviour is abhorrent and has absolutely no place in our city centre. It also took place in view of members of the public.

"Thankfully the victim only received minor injuries, which could have been much worse.

"I hope the public takes some reassurance in our quick response to this incident where we now have nine people in our custody.

"Our investigation into why this happened is underway, but early indications suggest that most of the suspects are known to each other.

"This does not take away how serious this incident is, and the impact this would have had on members of the public who had to watch it unfold.

"I would like to personally thank them for their assistance. Many members of the public have been incredibly helpful and provided us with vital evidence in this investigation.

"I could not be clearer, alongside members of the public, Nottinghamshire Police do not want knife carriers in our city. We stand together and we will do everything we can to ensure those carrying weapons are brought to justice."
