Police investigating the death of a man in Leicester have arrested a third man on suspicion of murder.

The 20-year-old remains in police custody this morning.

It follows the death of a man on Modbury Avenue. Patrolling officers came across him at around 12:10am on Monday (29 September).

The officers carried out CPR but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 19-year-old man is also in police custody on suspicion of murder, whilst a 25-year-old man has been released without charge.

Detective Chief Inspector Tim Lindley, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit’s (EMSOU) major crime team, is leading the investigation. He said: “Despite the arrests our enquiries to establish the circumstances of what happened are continuing and I’d ask anyone who can help us to come forward.

“The area where the man was found and where an assault is believed to have occurred is residential and I’d ask people to check their doorbell and CCTV cameras if they have one. I’d also like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area and has a dashcam in their vehicle.

“In addition, I’d like to speak to anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious or unusual either late Sunday evening or in the very early hours of yesterday morning.

“Any details you’re able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think they are, could help.”
