A hockey tournament is taking place today in memory of Essex girl, Grace O Malley Kumar, who died in the Nottingham Attacks in June 2023.

Grace was a student and was walking home from a night out with her friend Barnaby Webber when they were both stabbed to death.

The second annual Grace O’Malley-Kumar Cup, hosted at Beeston Hockey club, will see 6 teams competing:

They will be playing mixed hockey again this year, following the same format as before—with only 3 boys allowed on the pitch at any one time.

There will be food, drinks, and music.

Grace's friend Katie Curtis has organised the annual tournament, she told Greatest Hits Radio the day is about giving people a chance to reflect: "If you do something for one year, it's great, but if you do it forever, it's about creating a day where you come back and reflect and remember Grace for who she is."

Katie also spoke about the event being a chance to remember Grace in a nice way, after all of the traumatic events that followed her death:

"Whenever Grace's community has come together previously, it's been the court case or her funeral, it's always been so heavy.

"But, this event encapsulates her spirit, and we're all smiling and remembering her for who she was."
