An amber heat health alert has been issued to the East Midlands for this weekend, as temperatures are expected to soar again.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued the warning from 12pm tomorrow (27 July) until 6pm on Tuesday (1 July).

Temperatures in the East Midlands are reaching into the late 20s over the weekend, with the Met Office forecasting 31 degrees in Nottingham, Leicester, and Derby on Monday (30 June).

The UKHSA said an amber alert is issued when "significant impacts" are likely across health and social services due to the heat. It warned of a rise in deaths among over-65s or in those with health conditions.
