Police investigating a fatal collision in Leicestershire have arrested three men on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.

Emergency services were called to the A447 in Cadeby at around 12.36pm on Thursday to a crash involving a heavy goods vehicle with a trailer and a black BMW car.

The car driver - a man in his 50s - was pronounced dead at the scene and a 46 year old arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

In an update posted last night, Leicestershire Police said he had since been further arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter, alongside two other men - aged 20 and 17.

All the men remain in police custody.

Speaking on Thursday, Detective Sergeant Jack Cornick, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man has sadly died following the collision and we are providing full support to his family at this time.

“Enquiries are being carried out to establish the full circumstances of the collision. We have been speaking to witnesses but urge anyone with any information, who has not yet made contact with us, to get in touch.

“Please think back to if you were in the area and if you saw the incident or saw either of the vehicles travelling beforehand. If you have any dashcam footage from the area, please get in touch."
