Notts County's season-opening away match at Newport saw one of their fans airlifted to hospital barely an hour before the game.

Kick-off was delayed until 4pm at Newport's Rodney Parade Stadium while the airlift took place.

In a statement released on X, Notts County said of the incident: "A Notts fan who was taken ill before today's game is in a serious but stable condition in hospital."

"We will provide further updates when appropriate and we continue to send our thoughts and best wishes to the supporter and their family."

The match itself ended in a 1-all draw with the Welsh side. The goals were scored by Gerard Garner for Newport in the second half, followed by an equaliser by Jodi Jones for Notts County.
