Former Leicester City boss Craig Shakespeare has died

Foxes players past and present are paying tribute to the 60 year old

Craig Shakespeare has a long history at Leicester City but highlights include being assistant to Claudio Ranieri when the Foxes won the Premier League against all odds in 2016. Another 'magic moment' was leading them to the Champions League quarter finals the next season.

The club have put a statement on their website calling him:

"A man of immense talent, unwavering dedication, and heartfelt passion for the beautiful game, Craig’s passing will be mourned heavily by all who knew him, as well as the football community at large"

The 60 year old was diagnosed with cancer last year and died on Thursday 1st August surrounded by his family.

Ex Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel praised the coach, saying he was "one of the best I have ever seen" while Harry Maguire's called him "an incredible man".

Jack Grealish worked with Shakespeare at Aston Villa and says he's "one of the greatest people he's ever met".

League Managers Association Chairman and former Leicester boss Martin O'Neill says Shakespeare's "personality and warmth made people feel important"

Outside of Leicester, West Bromwich Albion, Hull City, Everton, Watford, Aston Villa, Norwich City and England all benefited from his leadership.
