A father and his two adult sons have been jailed for a 'vicious' attack on a man in Newark.
The victim, aged in his 50s, was left with broken legs, knee, jaw and skull after the incidents in Newark on May 17 2024.
48-year-old Samson Price assaulted the victim first at around 9pm in a shop in Meering Avenue, when he struck him with a piece of metal shelving.
Price's sons Samson and Jessie James then chased the victim and assaulted him, where he sustained most of his injuries.
All three were later identified by CCTV footage and arrested.
After pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, they appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday 13 March for sentencing.
Samson Price, aged 48, of Barnby Road, Newark, was jailed for nine years. His sentence included an additional charge of causing grievous bodily harm without intent for the initial assault.
Jessie James Price, aged 25, of Tolney Lane, Newark was jailed for seven years.
Samson Price, aged 23, of Welbeck Avenue, Newark, was jailed for six years.
All three were also given a restraining order.
Detective Constable Robert McGhee, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“The victim in this case is a man in his late 50s who posed absolutely no physical threat to any of his attackers at the time they set about him.
“What they did had nothing whatsoever to do with self-defence.
“It was instead an act of wanton violence carried out to punish the victim for his earlier altercation with Price senior.
“Unsurprisingly the victim – who was outnumbered and unable to defend himself – suffered very serious injuries and spent several weeks in hospital as a result of what happened and will now have to live with the life-long consequences of these men’s brutality.
“I am pleased they have now been jailed for this vicious and wholly unnecessary attack, and hope this sentence serves as a reminder to others about the consequences of this kind of violence.”
