Drivers being warned of delays as 75,000 rock fans descend on Donnington Park
Download Festival kicks off today
75,000 rock fans are descending on Leicestershire this weekend for Download Festival, with drivers being told to be aware of delays and heavy traffic.
Queens of the Stone Age, Avenged Sevenfold and Fall Out Boy are among the headliners this year, with the event running from Friday 14th June to Sunday 16th June.
People have been allowed on site from Wednesday 12th June if they're camping, with organisers advising people to follow colour coded routes to access Donnington Park, depending on their ticket type.
They're asking people to not arrive at a different entry point to the one they've been told to use.
There's gonna be more parking available this year than previous years, with QR codes on parking passes for live updates and availability.
National Highways are also dispatching more traffic patrols than usual to help keep traffic flowing smoothly in the area, with as little disruption to people living nearby as possible.
Passengers for East Midlands Airport, which is around 5 miles from Donnington Park, are being told to leave plenty of travel time too.
The M1, A42, A453, A50 and A38 are expected to see significant increases in traffic, particularly when everyone arrives, and again when they leave on either Sunday night or Monday morning.
Other traffic for non-festival attendance is being advised to use alternative routes.
