Houses on a residential street in Derby are being evacuated after a suspected grenade was found in a nearby garden.

Police are asking people on Carlyle Street in Sinfin to leave their homes after receiving a report shortly before 9am today (25 June).

Explosive Ordinance Disposal teams have been deployed and are assessing the device.

Following the EOD’s advice, a 100m cordon has been put in place around the property, and the public are advised to avoid the area.

The cordon includes a road closure at the junction of Caryle Street and Kingsley Street.
