A collision between a bus and a tram in Nottingham, which has caused a tram to derail is likely to continue to disrupt services, according to officials.

NET said the road traffic collision this morning (19th Feb) forced them to close services between Bramcote Lane and Toton Lane.

From 7pm this evening, trams towards Toton Lane are terminating at Beeston Centre. NET said that would allow them to isolate overhead lines while they continue their clean-up operation.

The company said that Orange 36 buses would accept tram tickets for those heading towards Toton Lane and the City Centre. A replacement bus service is also operating between Bramcote Lane and Toton Lane.

NET told us there were no serious injuries, but a number of people were treated for minor injuries at the scene this morning.

In an earlier statement, Sarah Turner, managing director at Nottingham Express Transit (NET) said:

“A collision took place between a bus and a tram this morning, 19 February, on Inham Road, Chilwell, which resulted in a tram derailment. Emergency services were quick to attend the scene, and a number of people have been treated for minor injuries. Our thoughts are with all those affected.

“Our team’s current focus is on retrieving the tram and taking it back to the depot for repairs. This is a complex situation, and it could take significant time to return the tram to the tracks and resolve it.

“We understand the disruption and concern that collisions like this can cause, and we’d like to thank the public for their patience during this time, as well as the emergency services for their quick response."
