Nottinghamshire police are appealing for information following reports a car was spotted submerged in the River Trent.

The incident happened shortly after 5am on Saturday 15 November when the car was spotted entering the river near Wilford Suspension Bridge, West Bridgford.

It’s suspected to have come from the Wilford Grove area.

Emergency services have been working to track the car – and possible occupants – down and are now calling on the public’s help.

They are asking anyone who saw what happened, or has any relevant CCTV, doorbell, mobile phone or dashcam footage, to get in touch with them immediately.

Investigators are also keen to hear from any members of the public who may be aware of anyone who has not returned home or cannot currently be accounted for.

“As the investigation continues and we grow increasingly concerned, we are calling on the public for assistance"

Detective Sergeant Rachel Mayfield, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Specialist teams have been working over the past day to track the vehicle and determine whether any occupants remain unaccounted for.

“As the investigation continues and we grow increasingly concerned, we are calling on the public for assistance.

“If you witnessed anything in the area, or have any relevant CCTV, please report it to us.

“We’d also like to hear from anyone who has any concerns about someone who may be missing in the area - even the smallest detail could prove vital to the investigation.”

Anyone with any information should call 101, quoting incident number 91 of 15 November 2025, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
