Nottingham Forest have taken their summer spending close to £100million in the space of three days with striker Arnaud Kalimuendo following Omari Hutchinson and James McAtee to the City Ground.

Kalimuendo has signed a five-year deal after Forest concluded a deal with Rennes to sign the 23-year-old striker, who scored 18 goals for the Ligue 1 side last season, in a deal worth £25million.

The deal comes after a weekend that had already seen Forest spend a club record £37.5m to sign Hutchinson from Ipswich and £30m to get midfielder McAtee from Manchester City.

Kalimuendo is primarily a central striker but can also play in the wide positions.

"When I heard about the interest from Forest, I was honoured," Kalimuendo said. "This is a proud moment for me, joining a team who had a strong season last year and a club with great history.

"I'm ready for the challenge, and I arrive here with good experience. I had a good season last year with goals and assists but I want more and want to reach a new level here.

"I can't wait to play in the Premier League, and to play at the City Ground. I watched games from last season and it's clear the fans create a beautiful atmosphere. I'm excited to see them and impatient to get started."

Hutchinson and McAtee were paraded at the City Ground before Forest opened their Premier League season with a 3-1 win over Brentford on Sunday.

Fellow new signing Dan Ndoye got on the scoresheet in a rampant first half where Forest scored all of their goals.

He said: "It was amazing to start like that, the first game of the season, the first victory, scoring my first goal for the club was a really nice experience.

"We have a really nice team. Every game I play with my team-mates I feel better every game.

"I feel already better than last week. I am fortunate to help my team-mates to win games and I am really happy."

It was not the start to his managerial career that Keith Andrews would have been hoping for at Brentford.

Andrews has stepped up from his role as set-piece coach to replace Thomas Frank but a horrifying first half left them 3-0 down.

With Yoane Wissa not involved as he tries to follow Christian Norgaard and Bryan Mbeumo out of the club, new record signing Dango Ouattara not signed in time and Mikkel Damsgaard withdrawing due to the birth of his child, Andrews insists things will look different.

"I don't envisage it taking too long because I'm not ripping things up and going in a different direction," he said.

"I think the personnel is slightly different at the moment. The general plan isn't drastically differently.

"Put those players in the squad and you've obviously got three additional players which will be huge for us going forward."
