The death of a 52-year-old man whose body was found at a farm near Newark is believed to be linked to the disappearance of a pensioner from the area.

Nottinghamshire Police were called to an address near Langford just after 10.15am on Saturday 22 November, where the man's body was discovered in an outbuilding.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers are investigating a link between the man and missing 82-year-old Brian Wright, who has not been seen since Thursday 20 November.

They have now launched a homicide investigation, working on intelligence indicating that Mr Wright is deceased.

Search teams are working in the area.

Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "I’d like to reassure members of the community that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

"At this early stage, we believe all parties to be known to each other and there is no wider threat to the public.

“We would also ask the public to respect the privacy of family members at what is an incredibly difficult time for them.

Nottinghamshire Police are asking anyone with information to contact them on the non-emergency 101 number.

Anonymous reports can be made via Crimestoppers.
