17 year old arrested after stabbing in Newark

A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Newark.

A man was taken to hospital on Monday - after police were called out to Parliament Street - his injuries aren't thought to be life threatening.

Detective Sergeant James Hirst, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“We know this incident caused concern in the neighbourhood so I’m pleased we can share this update.

“We continue to believe this was an isolated incident involving people who are known to each other.

“Dedicated teams of officers have been working hard using all the investigative tools at our disposal and neighbourhood teams have also been deployed on additional patrols.

“We’re grateful to those who have already provided information but would urge anyone else who can assist to get in touch without delay.”

The force confirmed the man who suffered stab wounds was in his 40s and was assaulted outside a property, at around 7:20pm.

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries which are not life-altering or life-threatening in nature.

Officers have been conducting forensic, door-to-door and CCTV investigations in the area.

The 17 year old remains in custody
