A 46-year-old man from Weymouth has been sentenced to prison for a year after he pleaded guilty to a number of domestic abuse offences.

On March 8, 2024, Daniel Tweed, previously of Chickerell Road, Weymouth, launched a vicious attack on his partner at their home in Northampton.

A spokesperson from Northamptonshire police said:

"During the assault, Tweed punched her multiple times, dragged her by the hair, kicked her and stamped on her.

"The woman was taken to hospital and Tweed was arrested by officers from Northamptonshire Police.

"He was subsequently charged with assault, attempted criminal damage, and failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time.

"Tweed pleaded guilty to all three counts at Northampton Crown Court on June 11 and received a sentenced of one year in prison."

Lead investigator PC Nick Lyczkowski from Northampton Response said:

“First of all I would like to commend the survivor in this case for her bravery and support of our investigation. Because of her courage, Tweed is now behind bars and if anyone gets into a relationship with him in the future, they will google his name and see this report.

“The assault he perpetrated against this woman was extremely violent and to do this to someone you are in a relationship with is just unbelievable.

“Tackling domestic abuse is something we are really passionate about at Northamptonshire Police and we will continue working hard to bring more people like Daniel Tweed to justice.”

The spokesperson for the force continued to say:

"Love should lift you up and make you feel safe and happy.

"It shouldn't make you feel anxious, fearful and controlled.

"If you are suffering in a relationship, please come forward.

"You deserve better.

"We will believe you."
