Gillingham has its own Home Bargains store from today (Saturday 10th August), following a £4 million investment.

The chain's creating 44 jobs at their latest branch on Kingsmead Business Park.

Home Bargains has more than 600 stores across the UK.

Simon Carter, the new Gillingham store manager, said:

“I am thrilled to be opening a new store in Gillingham providing 44 new jobs and looking forward to serving the local and surrounding communities with great ranges and exceptional customer service for many years to come.”

Homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, fresh, chilled and frozen food are being stocked there.

The company's also marking the opening by donating £2,000 to a local charity, the Gillingham Community and Leisure Trust (GCLT) towards their RiversMeet Active and RiversMeet Performance sites.

Jake Parry, General Manager at GCLT said:

“We are incredibly grateful for this donation, it comes at a time that the charity has been working hard to secure funding for a project and this money will go a long way towards achieving our target. Thank you, Home Bargains!”
