Detectives investigating a fatal house fire in Weymouth say it has now been determined that no criminal offences took place.

Dorset Police received a report at 10.59am on Friday 4 October 2024 of a fire at an address in Southdown Road in Weymouth.

Officers attended the scene, along with the fire and ambulance services.

A man aged in his 70s was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 60-year-old man was also taken to hospital and was subsequently discharged.

Dorset Police say the 60 year old man was voluntarily interviewed by officers during the investigation with no further action taken.

They added that all lines of enquiry were explored and the investigation has now concluded with it determining no criminal offences took place.
