Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding a fire at a scrapyard.

Black plumes of smoke engulfed Michael Douglas Auto Salvage and Scrap Metals on Stainton Road, in Etterby, Carlisle, yesterday (10 April).

Network Rail had to be informed due to proximity to the nearby railway line.

The cause of the fire is not known but is now 'under control'.

Roads were closed to help keep the public safe, but all routes have now been reopened.
