The rural village of Ilmington in Warwickshire has been named the top place to live in the Midlands according to new Sunday Times guide.

With winding roads and chocolate box cottages surrounded by green fields, it's no wonder judges say Ilmington is as pretty as a picture.

The village of Ilmington lies on the edge of the Cotswolds, with picturesque walks waiting on its doorstep.

At the heart of the village you can also find good pubs, sports clubs and community groups but its proudest achievement, is the community shop supported by more than 100 volunteers which celebrates its 10th birthday this year.

We spoke with William Buckley who has lived in the village for 12 years, he gave us some insight into what daily life in Ilmington is like.

William said: "Life is very good, it's a delightful place to live. There are some lovely walks around the village and everyone in the community gets along with one other.

"We like to say that we live in a little village bubble and we feel very lucky to call it our home."

The Chairman of the Village Hall, Bryan Clifford, has lived in Ilmington for 10 years with his wife.

It comes as no surprise to Bryan that the village has won the top spot: "We originally chose the village for the house and scenic environment but shortly after we got involved in the community and fell in love with the village even more.

"We get the best of both worlds here living in a rural village which has preserved it's original Anglo-Saxon architecture but keeping with modern life."

Now you can see why the judges came to the conclusion that Ilmington is a blissful example of what village life should be.
