Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service say an incident - leaving a property unliveable - has now been stood down.

Homes were evacuated yesterday after a boiler reportedly exploded in a house on Alexandra Street.

A cordon in place in the area has now been lifted.

Sharing details of the incident yesterday, crews confirmed five engines from Nuneaton Fire Station, Atherstone Fire Station, Foleshill Fire Station. Coventry Fire Station and their Turntable Ladder from Leamington Fire Station were all sent out to attend the blaze, involving 3 terraced houses on Alexandra Street in Nuneaton.

They first received the call at 11:55, with the first appliances arriving in under 3 and a half minutes.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets are working to extinguish the fire.

Their Turntable Ladder was also in use to gain access to roof spaces and fight the fire from above.
