Labour are celebrating gains across Coventry and Warwickshire as the party strengthens its grip on the region.

Former Conservative seats Nuneaton, North Warwickshire and Bedworth, and Rugby have all turned red, and Labour now have comfortable majorities in all three Coventry seats.

It comes as part of Keir Starmer's landslide general election victory aided by the downfall of the Conservative Party which is set for one of its worst-ever losses.

In Coventry North West, Taiwo Owatemi defended the sixth-slimmest majority in the UK, having won by just 208 votes in 2019.

This time round she won by over 10,000 votes and said: "The people of Coventry North West continue put their faith in the Labour Party and hope that we will deliver on the issues that matter to them - I look forward to being contribute to some of that change.

"It's a testament to all the hard work me and my team have been doing for the past few years - we've been out there talking to constituents and pushing the issues that really matter to them."
