Coventry shoplifted jailed and banned from parts of city
46 year old Lewis Clamp has been sentenced
A prolific shoplifter has been jailed for twelve months and banned from parts of Coventry for the next five years.
46 year old Lewis Clamp appeared before Coventry Magistrates Court yesterday (Wednesday 9th April), charged with twenty shop thefts.
As well as the prison sentence, he's also been handed a Criminal Behaviour Order, banning from a number of locations in the city.
Clamp's been described by West Midlands Police as one of the area's most wanted offenders, for an extensive history of shoplifting offences.
CCTV footage has showed he would enter shops at the Airport Retail Park and fill his bag with items before running out.
He would then cycle away to nearby housing estates before security could catch him.
Sergeant Deb Walker, from the Coventry North East neighbourhood team, said: "All our teams in the North East are delighted to have arrested and dealt with Lewis Clamp.
"He has been a persistent source of crime in the North East of the city and has cost businesses thousands of pounds over the course of his offending.
"Thankfully, we were able to use local knowledge to identify where he was going and how he was stealing.
"This allowed us to bring him in and take action against him."
