Truro City Football Club players have started training at a new football 'stadium' in Truro.

The team have been training outside of Cornwall for the last few years due to not having a training ground here.

Season ticket holders and invited club guests have also viewed the new facilities for the first time while seeing the first team train on the pitch.

Connor Riley-Lowe, Truro City player and Club Captain, said: "It looks absolutely magnificent.

"It's a real breath of fresh air and it's been a long time coming. We've been away from here for more than three years now, playing and training more in Torquay and Plymouth Parkway, so coming home is really nice."

Yesterday (Thursday 1 August) was first time that any football related activity has taken place on the main pitch.

The new facilities at Langarth come after proposals for a larger 10,000-seat 'Stadium for Cornwall' were previously turned down.

John Askey, manager of Truro City Football Club, said: "I would imagine most Truro supporters were not managing the distances to travel.

"Hopefully now we're here it'll attract the youngsters as well."
