Tributes paid to Cornish diver found dead
Andrew McKnight vanished after going diving off St Anthony Head in September
Tributes are being paid to a diver from Cornwall who lost his life after going out to sea three months ago.
Andrew McKnight (76) disappeared after going diving around St Anthony Head near Falmouth on Sunday 22 September.
An extensive multi-agency search was carried out but then called off over several days, with his body being found on Portholland Beach last Sunday 8th December.
In a statement his family say the death of a man who was a high qualified diver and diving instructor has come as a "great shock" to everyone.
“He was a much-loved husband, father and grandfather and he will deeply missed by all his family," their statement reads.
“We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the south west diving community, Devon & Cornwall Police, the RNLI, the Coastguard and all others who gave their time to search for him for the past 11 weeks.
“As a family we ask for privacy at this difficult time as we come to terms with our loss.”
