Cornwall Council says work was continuing last night to tackle a large compost fire in Falmouth.

It's after a series of complaints from people in the area about the effects of the smoke and the smell.

Cornwall Council said: "Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service is aware of a large fire involving green waste in the Falmouth area.

"The Fire and Rescue Service is working with partners to provide an effective response to this incident.

"More information will be provided to residents as it becomes available."

They have also gone on to add: "As there will be varying smoke levels for some time, residents may want to keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution - particularly individuals with conditions like asthma.

"Anyone who experiences new or worsening symptoms is advised to contact their GP or NHS 111."
