A ferry, which connects Penzance and the Isles of Scilly, has returned to service.

Operators of the Scillonian say sailings began again at the weekend.

It's return to service was delayed due to an issue with the gearbox.

In an update a few days ago, the team at Isles of Scilly Travel shared an update on their website.

They confirmed: "We are pleased to confirm that Scillonian III has successfully completed her final repairs and has arrived back in Penzance this evening, Friday 21st March.

"Scillonian III will return to scheduled sailings tomorrow Saturday 22nd March 2025.

"We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this time and would like to thank you for the kind messages of support—they have meant a great deal to the crew and contractors who have worked to bring her back to service.

"We look forward to welcoming you back on board."
