A bulldog named Roxy has been rescued from a river in Looe by local RNLI volunteers.

Crew members were called out this morning (Monday 31st March) after reports that a dog had fallen into the river at Pennyland.

The inshore lifeboat Ollie Naismith II was launched, after life rings were thrown out into the water as Roxy's owner, Liam, waded in to help his pet.

The lifeboat picked up the pair and crossed the river to the lifeboat station for checks.

Luckily, Roxy landed in the water directly, and missed the road exposed by the falling tide.

She and Liam were given a clean bill of health, with the whole rescue taking less than 20 minutes to be completed.
