Prince William to visit Royal Cornwall Show with Duchess of Edinburgh
The Duke of Cornwall will be joined by his aunt the Duchess of Edinburgh
The Duke of Cornwall, Prince William, will be visiting the Royal Cornwall Show today (Friday 6 June).
The Duke of Cornwall, Patron, The Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, and The Duchess of Edinburgh, Patron, The Association of Agricultural Show Organisations (ASAO) and Vice President of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, will attend to celebrate and highlight the very best in Cornish heritage and tradition through agriculture, food and drink, entertainment and competition.
On arrival, Their Royal Highnesses will first visit the Royal Cornwall Food and Farming Pavilion before visiting different parts of the show separately.
The Duke will visit the Duchy of Cornwall hub as this year, The Royal Cornwall Show is putting a spotlight on rural mental health by highlighting a variety of local charities, including Pentreath Cornwall Rural Community Charity, Georgia's Voice, Kooth, Man Down, PAPRUS and Sunrise.
The Duke will then visit the Local Nature Partnership – Regenerative/Agricultural which is an education hub hosted by the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Local Nature Partnership and Cornwall Council. The hub looks to bring together organisations and projects to discuss the importance of balancing the traditional skills that need to be preserved in farming whilst still supporting future regenerative farming practices.
His Royal Highness will also present the Duke of Cornwall’s award which is given to the farm business that has successfully delivered a sustainable approach to farming, forestry and/or food production within Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly.
The Duchess will visit two organisations of which she is Patron – LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) a leading organisation promoting sustainable food and farming practices by inspiring and enabling more circular approaches to farming and food systems. Her Royal Highness will then visit the Girl Guides, who have played an important role in the running of the Royal Cornwall Show for many years.
The Duchess will visit the Cattle, Pig, Sheep and countryside area.
On departure, Their Royal Highnesses will sign the Royal Cornwall Show visitor book. This is the first time His Royal Highness has attended the show as Duke of Cornwall and The Duchess of Edinburgh last visited the show in 2014.
