Police called to reports of grenade

Devon and Cornwall Police were rushed out to West Park in St Columb last night - after reports of a suspected grenade.

They put a cordon in place following the call at about 20:05.

Officers tell us The Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team removed the device for safe disposal.

In a statement, they said: "Police were called at 8.05pm on Monday 15 July to West Park, St Columb, following reports that a suspected grenade had been found.

"A cordon was put in place.

"The Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team attended and removed the device for safe disposal."
