People warned not to swim or bathe in a number of beaches in Cornwall

The Environment Agency have warned people that due to reports of oil on the beach that swimming and bathing should not happen at a number of Cornwall beaches.

People have been told not to enter the water at these locations.

The Environment Agency stated:

“We issued advice against bathing at Trebarwith Strand, Crackington Haven and Widemouth Sand after reports of oil on the beach from lifeguards.

“Our offices inspected Crackington Haven beach and we will continue to monitor the situation. Cornwall Council are distributing information and advisory signage at all three beaches.”
