Major blaze destroys Boscastle home

A major fire has destroyed a residential home in Boscastle, with 70 firefighters called out to deal with the incident.

Crews from Bude, Bodmin, Padstow, St Austell, Delabole, Perranporth, Lostwithiel and Liskeard were called out to Fore Street at around 12.40pm yesterday (Sunday 30th March).

Pictures on social media show the roof of the property has collapsed, leaving severe damage.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue say the fire started on the ground floor and quickly spread to the roof.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to put out the blaze.

South Western Ambulance and Devon & Cornwall Police also attended.

An investigation is now underway into the cause of the incident.
