Part of the A38 in Cornwall was closed for a couple of hours today after a lorry collided with a railway bridge.

Police say they were called to Trerulefoot Roundabout at around 7.15am this morning (Friday 12 July).

A road closure was put in place in both directions between Trerulefoot Roundabout and Tideford whilst recovery of the vehicle was arranged.

Network Rail representatives attended to inspect the bridge. Nobody was hurt during the crash.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: "A railway bridge at Trerulefoot was struck by a lorry at approximately 7.15am this morning.

"The railway line was closed while engineers attended to inspect the bridge, which was confirmed to be safe at around 9:00am."
