A statue of comedian Jethro will be unveiled at Trago Mills in Liskeard.

Family and friends of the comedian have been fundraising for the past few years to give the life-sized bronze statue a permanent home for generations to come.

Fans of Geoffery Rowe were asked to come up with suggestions of where the statue should be placed.

Rebel Dean, friend of Jethro, said: "To go from an idea of, wouldn't it be nice, to have his memory there forever more. To keep his memory alive.

"Imagine this one guy, walking around, from Cornwall, making everyone laugh wherever he went and that's gone. That's why I wanted the statue there. To keep the memory of this magical guy from Cornwall who became a huge huge success."

Rebel first met Jethro when they toured in similar venues for shows.

He recalls meeting him: "When we met and we were talking, we just connected. We became very close, we'd always pop in and see him and we just had an understanding and I had a huge respect for him as a lot of people from Cornwall did.

"When he passed it was such a shock. I heard about the fundraiser for a statue, I became involved and it's been a couple of years of fundraising and organising it all."

The 'grand unveiling' will take place at 2pm.
