Fire crews have been tackling a large fire at a derelict hotel in Newquay.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue say they were called to the Hotel California in Pentire Crescent just before 4pm on Sunday 30th June.
A caller reported smoke coming from the windows of the three storey building, and 12 breathing apparatus, six jets and one hose reel jets were sent along.
Because of the dangerous nature of the building, with a collapsed roof and missing floorboards, crews were fighting the fire from the outside.
St Dennis Community Fire Station reported at 7.24pm that 'good progress' was being made in tackling the fire, and by 8.49pm Cornwall Fire and Rescue confirmed the building was 'well alight'.
In the latest update this morning (Monday 1st July), the fire service said: "Crews have worked overnight to ensure good progress is being made.
"The incident is now down to 4 fire appliances, 2 Aerial Ladder Platforms and the Incident Command Unit plus one Flexi Duty Officer."

"Outdated, and in a state of disrepair"
The Hotel California closed in November 2021, and the following year an application was submitted to Cornwall Council to demolish the building and replace it with 20 apartments and four semi-detached homes.
At the time, the application described the hotel as 'outdated and in a state of disrepair'.
Planning permission was granted by the council, and demolition work was due to start next month, with building work expected to begin by the end of this year.
