Helen Glover takes Olympic sliver in dramatic women's four rowing final
The British team were just edged out on the line by the Netherlands
Truro's Helen Glover has just missed out on Olympic gold today as the British women's four rowing team were beaten on the line by the Netherlands at the Paris games.
The Dutch had a fast start, putting themselves out into the lead. However, the British team, consisting of Glover, Rebecca Shorten, Esme Booth and Sam Redgrave, were able to catch them up as the race progressed.
With just 500 metres to go, the two boats were neck and neck, and Olympic gold looked within sight for the Brits. Unfortunately for the Glover and the rest of the crew, the Dutch were able to hold on, crossing the line in 6 minutes and 27.31 seconds - only 0.18 seconds ahead.
Helen Glover, a 38 year-old mother-of-three, previously won pairs gold at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics.
