Falmouth launches slow-down attempt to boost high street
The campaign is called 'Street Meets'
Falmouth's Business Improvement District (BID) has launched an unorthodox plan to attract more business to the town centre.
The campaign, named Street Meets, aims to encourage even well-seasoned visitors to discover hidden gems they didn't already know about, by taking their visit "one street at a time".
This slow-down approach will be encouraged by a new monthly magazine, spotlighting individual street's current attractions and businesses as well as their history.
Falmouth BID manager Keren Cooksey said: “Falmouth is a brilliant town, full of independent businesses, creativity and character and it’s packed with gems that even some local people don’t always realise are there.
"Whether it’s a café you’ve never tried, a shop you’ve walked past a hundred times, or a corner of town you haven’t visited in years, we want people to feel inspired to explore and enjoy their town."
Free parking will be available between 9am and 1pm, to encourage town centre visits.
