An event is taking place to highlight the challenge of finding affordable homes in the Duchy.

A group of business and community leaders have teamed together for a creative display to share the message that everyone has a role to play in solving the housing crisis.

The Hope for Cornwall event at the Hall for Cornwall will feature a showcase of Cornish performers from choirs to comedians, singers, musicians, poets.

Parish councillors, volunteers for a charities which help Cornwall, and those who are interested in supporting homes for those in need in Cornwall are invited.

Emma Stratton, Homes for Cornwall, said: "There's lots of communities who are worried about housing and there are lots of local people who are really struggling with housing or worried that future generations won't be able to live in the Duchy they were born. We recognised that need and the pain and suffering it was causing."

The Homes for Cornwall coalition group was set up to change and drive forward affordable housing for Cornwall, initiate conversations and help the Duchy and communities 'flourish and prosper.'

Emma added: "There are areas of housing we haven't talked about. Cornwall has a high proportion of retired individuals and many of those individuals will need care. At the moment, we're going to struggle to find the people who will look after us at our old age and that's a worry. We can see it's every part of the community we need to be engaging, talking about housing and coming together to sort all the problems."
