Harry Hall makes no secret of the ambitious goals he has set himself, including playing in the Ryder Cup and winning the Masters.

Yet despite being a friend of tournament host Sir Nick Faldo, the 27-year-old from Cornwall initially harbours more limited ambitions for this week's Betfred British Masters at The Belfry.

"My first time being in front of an English crowd, hopefully they know who I am and that I am English," Hall joked.

"I always wanted to play over here since I turned pro in 2019 and it just didn't work out that way.

"I worked my way through the Korn Ferry Tour to the PGA Tour to win a co-sanctioned event, which was fantastic and hopefully I can get a lot of friends and family to come up and watch this week and over the next few weeks."

Hall, who turned professional after attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, won the ISCO Championship in July by chipping in for a birdie on the third play-off hole, a victory which earned him a two-year exemption on both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.

The former Walker Cup player now plans to ply his trade on both sides of the Atlantic, with a Masters victory at Augusta National the ultimate goal.

"It's the big ambition of mine because of West Cornwall Golf Club," Hall explained.

"Jim Barnes was also from there and a hundred years ago he won the US PGA (twice), the US Open and The Open but played his last major in 1932, two years before the first Masters.

"If I got the green jacket, West Cornwall Golf Club would be the only club in the UK with all four majors. That would be really cool, unless Rory (McIlroy) beats us to it."

As for his friendship with Faldo, Hall revealed that he simply emailed the three-time Masters champion and quickly received an invitation to his ranch in Montana.

"After the FedEx Cup last year I missed the play-offs and had some downtime and I thought it would be really cool if I could get to know Nick Faldo a little bit," Hall said.

"I'd chatted to Fanny (Sunesson), his long-time caddie, at The Players earlier that year and I thought she was really impressive.

"I just thought it's only a two-hour flight from Vegas to Montana so I reached out to my agent and asked if I could get his (Faldo's) e-mail or something and two days later I got a call.

"We had a bit of a chat and he said, 'I'm free next week' and I said, 'I'm coming up'.

"I landed on Thursday night, had dinner and met him at the course at about 9.00am on Friday and hit balls with him all morning and played nine holes with him and shared a cart in the afternoon. It was very impressive."
