It's the first full meeting since the local elections

Cornwall Council will elect their new leader.

The full council meeting will take place today (Tuesday 20 May) following the local elections where the formerly Conservative council lost their majority.

The meeting, starting at 10.30am, will also see the assignment of seats and cabinet members.

Despite Reform voted in as the biggest political group at the council at the May 1st election with 28 seats, it looks unlikely they will be leading the council.

It now looks as though there will be a Lib Dem and Independent group alliance, who will work with minority political groups to form the administration, as it appears other parties have refused to join forces with Reform to lead the unitary authority.
