A conservatory in Saltash has been destroyed after a house fire on Christmas Eve.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service were called at 4.22am of this morning to a washing machine on fire.

A crew from Saltash Fire Station and a crew from Camels Head Fire Station attended the blaze at the address at Belle Vue Road.

On arrival, firefighters reported smoke coming from the property and asked a third crew from Liskeard to attend due to the scale.

A spokesperson from Saltash Community Fire Station said: "Fortunately the fire was contained to just the extension of the property."

Breathing Apparatus crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

During this incident a crew from Looe Fire Station provided cover for the area from Saltash Fire Station.
