Coach firm thank 'everyone for kind comments and support' after devastating blaze

Williams Travel are thanking 'everyone for their kind comments and support' after a major blaze over the weekend.

Engines from Tolvaddon, Perranporth, Falmouth and St Ives were all called to attend on Saturday (22 March) - with coaches, minibuses and caravans left devastated in the early hours of the morning.

An investigation will now be carried out into the cause.

In their update over the weekend, Cornwall Fire and Rescue said: "We are currently dealing with a large fire in an industrial unit used to store buses and caravans.

"There are appliances from Tolvaddon, Perranporth, Falmouth and St Ives in attendance along with the Aerial Ladder Platform from Truro and the Water Carrier from Helston also two Flexi Duty Officers.

"There are 4 breathing apparatus in use along with 2 main jets and a water shuttle.

"At 04:47 Firefighters were making good progress and the incident was being scaled back. Crews are damping down and turning over."

And in an update later that day (22 March), they confirmed that the incident was handed over to the owners, with a fire investigation to take place today (Monday 24th March).

On their social media, bosses at Williams Travel said on their social media yesterday: "Williams Travel would like to thank everyone for their kind comments and support in the aftermath of the fire this weekend on part of our site.

"Please rest assured that we are still operating, and the minimal number of clients affected have been contacted.

"All holidays and day tours are running as planned so please still look forward to enjoying our excellent services as usual."
