Bude: murder investigation update after death of 93-year-old woman
Detectives are continuing to make enquiries to establish the circumstances around the death of a woman in Bude
Detectives have been given more time to question a murder suspect after the death of a 93-year-old woman in Bude.
A warrant of further detention has been granted by Truro Magistrates’ Court, allowing police to detain the suspect in custody for a further 36 hours.
It comes after emergency services were called to an address on Cherrill Gardens on Sunday afternoon.
Police were called to a report of a concern for welfare for a woman at an address on Cherrill Gardens at around 1pm on Sunday 29 June.
Officers and paramedics attended, and a 93-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Her next of kin have been informed.
A police cordon remains in place at the scene.
A heightened police presence remains
Detective Inspector Rob Smith, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “It is thought the deceased and suspect are known to each other and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.
“There will continue to be a heightened police presence in the area as our enquiries continue.

A 65-year-old man from the Bude area has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody at this time.
