A30 closed near Camborne after serious crash

Drivers in the West Country are being advised to avoid a section of the A30 in Cornwall as it remains closed this morning (Tuesday 17 December) following a serious crash.

The collision happened between the junction for A3047 (Treswitian) and the junction for A3047 (Camborne) last night (Monday 16 December).

Traffic monitoring service INRIX is reporting that it involved a tractor and a van.

The eastbound carriageway remains closed whilst police are at the scene carrying out investigations.

A diversion is in place. Drivers are being advised to avoid the area and delay journeys to avoid congestion, especially through this morning’s peak travel period.

National Highways said: "Devon and Cornwall Police are currently responding to a collision which occurred at approximately 21.26pm yesterday evening involving a van and a tractor.

"Due to the seriousness of the collision, Devon and Cornwall Police have remained on scene throughout the night and have been conducting collision investigations at the scene. The road has been closed eastbound to allow this work to take place.

"There is currently no estimate for when the road will re-open. National Highways have resources in attendance awaiting the conclusion of the investigation works to treat a reported oil spillage at scene."

Eastbound Diversion:

Leave the A30 at Treswithian junction onto A3047, turn left to Rosewarne and then turn left under the A30 to South Tehidy, turn right then right again to rejoin the A30 at Tolvaddon.

Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage. A spokesperson said: "Emergency services were called at 8.40pm following the collision between a grey Ford Tourneo van and a tractor with a trailer on the eastbound carriageway at Tolvaddon.

"The male van driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital.

"Police closed the A30 eastbound to carry out an investigation of the scene and for the recovery of the vehicles. The carriageway remains closed.

"Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and appealing for any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.

"Please contact police online or by telephone on 101, quoting log number 0783 of 16/12/24."
