Coroner to look into death of businessman killed in Cambridgeshire collision
Stephen Chamberlain was struck by a car on the A1123 last August
An inquest into a businessman who died after being struck by a car in Cambridgeshire is due to be held today.
Stephen Chamberlain, an associate of the late Cambridge tech tycoon Mike Lynch, died in hospital three days after being in collision with a car on August 17 last year.
A previous hearing heard that Mr Chamberlain, known as Steve, collided with a car travelling on the A1123 between Stretham and Wicken.
At a pre-inquest review earlier this year, Sally Hobson - representing Mr Chamberlain's family - said a police report into the collision is "incomplete".
Ms Hobson said this is because "it has not included full details of what was said at the scene either by the driver of the vehicle or by others."
She added the report did not fully address driver responsibilities.
At the time, area Coroner Caroline Jones said she would direct the police to produce further information but would not be ordering an independent report.
"As much as I would love to have the time and resources to thoroughly investigate each and every case that comes before the court, we simply have to be proportionate in the evidence we gather in cases so that we may answer those statutory questions," she said.
Ms Jones said the full inquest into Mr Chamberlain's death would also hear evidence of his routine and preparation before going out for a run.
