Two people have been arrested after police found hundreds of suspected cannabis plants growing in a village in North Somerset - worth around £90,000.

Avon and Somerset Police say their officers were acting on intelligence, and found a grow containing 222 of the plants in High Street, Claverham last Friday (April 28).

A man in his 20s and a woman in her 40s were arrested after police found the grow in the early hours of the morning - they have since been released on police bail, pending further investigations.

Sgt Mark Dennis said: “We would like to thank those who have come forward with information so far and we are continuing to appeal to the local community for any further information relating to the offence and drug dealing in the area.

“Drugs have a significant detrimental impact on communities and we are committed to doing everything we can to ensure people do not have to suffer the harm and criminality we know is a consequence of them.”
