Police investigate 'unacceptable' incident at South Bristol pub

Officers say a 'significant' number of people were involved in the incident at the Rising Sun on Saturday night

Investigations continue by Avon and Somerset Police after what they've described as a large disorder at the Rising Sun pub in Bristol.

A 24 year old man has been released on bail after several people wee reportedly punched and kicked on Saturday evening (May 11h).

Officers have called it an 'alarming' and 'unacceptable' incident, adding several of the people involved had already left the area by the time they arrived to the scene.

The 24-year-old man who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of affray, causing actual bodily harm and possession of cocaine.

A review of CCTV footage from the pub and wider area is underway, as officers look to identify everyone involved.

Investigating officer PC Rosie Patterson said: “This was an alarming incident which involved a large number of people fighting in a pub.

“Several people were assaulted and suffered injuries, although it’s unclear exactly how many people were hurt.

“Incidents of this nature are completely unacceptable and it’s important we identify those responsible.
